At Happy Whiskers Animal Coalition, our mission is simple but powerful: to reduce pet homelessness and suffering through spay/neuter, TNR (trap-neuter-return), and community education. As a no-kill, nonprofit, foster-based rescue in Broward County, we are committed to giving every cat a chance while also empowering people with the knowledge and resources to make a difference—because we believe anyone can help save a life.

Founded in 2024 by a compassionate family who relocated from the Northeast, Happy Whiskers began with shock and heartbreak. After arriving in South Florida, they were stunned to see the overwhelming number of cats struggling on the streets, surviving on handouts from “feeders,” and enduring unimaginable cruelty. Unlike the Northeast, where freezing winters naturally limit stray populations—and where stricter spay and neuter laws help curb breeding—Florida’s warm climate allows uncontrolled reproduction year-round, compounding the crisis.

True to our name, we consider ourselves a coalition: working hand-in-hand with other rescues to pool resources, share knowledge, and provide affordable, practical care that makes a real impact. Through strong partnerships with shelters and rescues in the Northeast, we also transport adoptable cats and kittens to areas where the demand for pets is high and their chances for a loving home are even greater.
